”His Imperial Majesty Ferrus Cassian III - Warden of the Falconmarch, King of Rjillund, Patriarch of the blood of Arturas, True Emperor of Trevast, Headreiksmarshal of the Imperial armies of the Sacred Falcon, Govenantor of the great city of Carenna, Master of Hosts and Lord Protector of the Imperial Heartland.”
House: Cassian of Rjillund
Age: 58
Physique: Portly, obviously a man past his physical prime. Uses a cane to support himself while walking. Yet, it is also easy to infer that he was at one time a very strong and intimidating man by virtue of his faded countenance. Stands at an above average 6’-2” in height.
Temperment: His Imperial Majesty projects himself as a jovial man; with a quick smile and charming, gregarious personality. This side of him is most commonly seen when he is amongst family, when receiving notable guests and dignitaries, and in the manner by which he generally treats his people. Yet, this is but one side of a morally grey coin, with Ferrus purportedly known to have a much darker and crueler side to his personality when meting out judgements against those who would harm or betray his House and Country. Within conversations between himself and those he judges he can be candid and intimate with, he oft stresses the importance of a ruler being capable of compartmentalizing their actions and manners of acting, namely for the express intent of governing in the best possible manner. Overall, he is a just monarch and makes it his duty to care for and love the people he governs over. This is in stark balance with the fact he is also the kind of man to brutally torture an alleged traitor within an upper chamber of his palace, while simultaneously attending a relative’s wedding or state banquet. He is also known to be very direct, and quite capable to fulfill what he says he is going to do.
Biography: His Imperial Majesty Ferrus Cassian III has always been a dominant figure in international relations amongst the other segmented realms of Trevast. Born as the eldest child out of three of his father, the late Fydor Cassian IV, Ferrus had always been groomed to eventually take the helm of his great nation ever since he was a boy. At a young age, he had demonstrated a high level of skill in intellectual subjects such as philosophy, human interactions, and particularly history at the feet of some of the most learned scholars and Maesters available to him. As he grew older, he demonstrated himself to be a capable warrior and tactician, with his favored weapon of choice being a battle axe, and with his strategic acumen encompassing two polarising tactics - one being his ability to express a level of empathy on behalf of innocent civilians caught within the desperate situations war spawns, and the other being the ease with which he treats his enemies brutally with little if any remorse. An example of the latter is of a time when several southern villages along the borders of the badlands were overrun by an uncharacteristically well organized and large barbarian host. As he led his men to deal with the problem, it eventually came to light that the southern villages in question had actually opened their gates to the barbarians in exchange for protection, squarely aligning themselves against their ordained sovereign. When his forces arrived, they with great effort yet unyielding dominance dealt with the barbarian incursion, and made examples of the men who led their people to such mindless revolt. The leaders of the specified villages, who claimed they were forced to capitulate to the barbarians under duress all along, were in due order strung upon the battlements of their village defenses and burned alive for all to see as examples of treason, with their wives and children being forcefully taken as his prisoners so as to prevent eventual rebellion for the sake of wronged bloodlines.
As Ferrus grew older, his reputation as a dominant and at times ruthless leader grew evermore so, until the eventual death of his father on Ferrus’ 28th nameday. As the burden of rulership rested on his shoulders, Ferrus went fast to work at setting the tone for his rule. And for the next two decades, Ferrus’ rule was altogether considered just and fair, with the commoners of Rjillund feeling a sense of security at the leadership of a decisive sovereign, despite his occasional heavy-handed methods. The third decade of his rule, however, saw the outbreak of war between his family and House Galathion, with the conflict rising to the point of massive bloodshed and hardship on both sides. With a peace accord finally being signed between the two powers, the people of Rjillund once again stand beside their King, who even in the twilight of his life serves as a constant reminder of stability and strength. And hopefully, he may see his homeland restored to prosperity before the days of his life come to an end. Those who know Ferrus the best know that he will do anything to see that become a reality.
