The Electus Maximus of the Knights Solaire, Lucius Agathos, was an aging man. At 74 years old, he had now been leading the Knights Solaire for almost 30 years. For 30 years, he had the loyalty of the some of the finest knights in Trevast, and he had led them wisely and justly, in his opinion. However, now that he was in his old age, many felt it was time for a new leader. Someone younger and more eager for bloodshed than 'Old Lucius'.
Those damn fools.
Lucius had once been as young as them, and he remembered having a similar yearning for blood. However, age has taught him a valuable lesson: hate begets hate begets hate. And now Lucius would do anything to see a peaceful end to the Boteri threat - even if his closest advisors thought otherwise.
This was why he hadn't immediately ordered the Knights Solaire to hunt and kill the remaining members of the House of Doros when he had first heard they made landfall in Trevast. In fact, he had to beat down one of his lieutenants who had dared to disobey his orders (the man was missing his sword arm now).
The Electus Maximus wanted to try his hand a peace, for once. Sure, they were Boteri - but they were no longer in a position to raid and pillage the shores of Trevast. An alliance could prove useful, should the House of Doros ever have an opportunity to seize power on the Boteri mainland.
It was because of this reasoning that the old man rode through the streets of the northernmost dock in Valdez with a complement of around twenty men. He had reached out towards the House of Doros through the usage of merchants and the like in order to set up a meeting between the two powers, and the governor of the town was kind enough to lend the townhouse for use in said meeting. It had taken a few choice words and more than a few gold coins in order to persuade him to do so, but in the end the governor had relented.
Upon reaching the large building, Lucius signalled for the majority of his men to guard the various entrances and exits of the building, and entered with only three of his most competent and loyal men. He didn't want any upstarts to interrupt the meeting thinking that they could kill a prince and gain glory.
The governor scurried over to him,
"You are the first to arrive, m'lord" He spoke, with his hands clasped in front of him.
"Very well, we will wait at the entrance." Lucius responded. Normally, he would have gone into the meeting room in order to take a seat and rest, but he wanted to make certain his men didn't make any aggressive moves. Afterall, many had lost friends and family to Boteri raids, and to them, all Boteri were the same.
The old man sighed. It would take a lot of work to get his men to set aside their hate.
