History:
The Kingdom of Alendron was originally a Grand Duchy created with the marriage of the last child of Artis himself, Aelin the Fair, marrying the Duke of Alendron. Aelin the Fair was a shrewd woman and this trait was carried on by her descendants. With her husband she raised the Aerie and the City of Avindril on a small isthmus connecting the Alendron Peninsula to the mainland continent of Trevast. Aelin hired the best city planners and engineers the Empire had to offer and together, they created a city that has stood the test of time. Unlike many cities, Avindril was built with expansion in mind and has a clear distinct semblance of order to it. Aelin understood that cities need fresh water and lots of it and created aqueducts to provide it, she also ordered the construction of sewers to allow the waste and excrements of a city to find its way out to sea. Her descendants continued to build upon Avindril and the lands she won for them with her cleverness and maneuvering. Roads and other great canals were built to knit Alendron together. Yet, the greatest achievement of the Galathions was done under Aurelia the Glorious, beloved by all, it was she who cleverly managed to displace the Cassian dynasty and place hers on the throne. She spent much of her reign appeasing the Cassians and launching vigorous financial reforms and infrastructure improvements. She also began (inadvertently) the Galathion scheme of seeking to systematically break the Empire apart, to leave it ripe for the taking, or at the very least benefit a free and independent Alendron. This scheme is one of the greatest secrets of the Galathion Dynasty, a scheme that was born in the final days of their rule. For the Galathions foresaw that their time was waning. Caspian IV was facing massive repercussions for his priority on education and the arts compared to providing the military a substantial budget and filling the Imperial Coffers. The week before his death, a quarrel erupted between the Cassians and the Galathions, a quarrel that brought to head decades of bitter resentment and fury. His cousin, Princess Taria the Cunning Wyvern, developed the basis of this plan once it was assured that Caspian was doomed. In this plan, the Galathions seeked to systematically undermine the Imperial Office. With this in mind, she allowed her cousin’s tragic death to occur at the hands of the Cassians, or so it seemed, and left a breadcrumb trail leading to allies of the Cassians and the Cassians themselves. It was enough to place the Vyres on the throne and from then on, it was Galathion policy to ensure that the following dynasties were systematically undermined. With the collapse of the Empire after successive dynasties all failed to replicate the splendor of the Galathion and Cassian Dynasties, the Galathions decided to invade the Ettinlands and were repulsed by the Cassians who defeated the Alendronian legions decisively. Thus began the great war with the Merovs of Routaille. For over a century, sporadic warfare erupted between the two houses as the Galathions eagerly strove to take the island of Routaile and eradicate the Merovs in vengeance for the assassination of the King of Alendron. After that, the Galathions assumed a more peaceful bent striving to increase trade and marrying their sons and daughters to their sundered kin, only warring with the Cassians of Rjillund over various petty reasons and were resolved after a few battles and skirmishes. In more recent times, the Fifteen Years War was fought due to a diplomatic dispute that turned violent and ended with a peace treaty that was extremely hollow to the battered and tired Alendronians. Queen Aelin III now rules over a weary nation and seeks to strengthen the ties of the quarreling sons and daughters of Trevast.

Culture
The Kingdom of Alendron is famous for many things, amongst these is its culture. The Kingdom of Alendron is a centre of scholarship, high fashion, music, and the arts and their people are proud of it. Sprawled across the Kingdom are various opera houses, concert halls, and artisan quarters where you can find some of the greatest musicians and artists the world has to offer. The various artisan guilds are open to any, as long as you have sufficient skill to apply. The Galathions are always willing to invite orchestras and performers from all over Trevast to regale them with their exiquisite performances and enlighten them to the trends of other nations. For, as the Galathions firmly believe, no nation can exist without music and the arts. For this is what they believe will be left behind, the great monuments they build, the riveting literature, the pieces of music they write, and the great works of art they create. Without these places, Alendron would not be the gem of Trevast and the greatness of the old Empire would be forever lost. Now onto something near and dear to the Queen’s heart, fashion.
The wealth of the nation is displayed by the upper class, gem-lined dresses, ornately crafted jewelry, and exquisitely designed masks are popular in Alendron. To some places, the sheer amount of wealth that the nobles wear would be considered ostentatious but, to Alendron it is the norm. Symbols have power and for this reason the sheer amount of wealth sends a clear and firm message, that this is a Kingdom that has prospered for quite a long time under their careful stewardship. Yet, for the commons of the realm, more functional clothing is the norm. Sturdy tunics and dresses are commonplace and even they own at least a few pieces of well made clothing for holidays and mass. It goes without saying that even the lowest peasant in this great kingdom has quite at least one made item of clothing to wear for the sabbath and to wear on special occasions, these special occasions are the various holidays of Alendron.
Holidays in Alendron are typically celebrated with grand revelry. In Avindril and other major cities, the Sovereign and their lords open up their casks and provide a week of games and entertainment. Amongst these are jousts, poetry contests, artistic displays, free viewings of music, and grand parades where the Royal Army and the heraldic orders of Alendron show off their martial might followed by grand bands and battle reenactments that stir the hearts of the people as they recall the glories of the Empire and some of their greatest triumphs. These holidays include Midsummer’s Day and the Winter Solstice where gifts are exchanged. Numerous minor holidays to commemorate famous persons and Saints are also held. Relgious festivals are far more sombre and the citizens gather to listen to the Priests of the realm lead them in ceremony to commemorate the Blessed Saints and Artis himself, they are culmated with grand parades where icons and relics of the Saints recognised by the Church of Alendron are paraded down the Path of Saints in Avindril and every major city where great monuments and artistic works dedicated to these blessed people are in display.
