Duke Iudicael IV Cadeyrn of Tyraxis, Knight of the Golden Wyvern and Keeper of the Royal Seal
Appearance: Iudicael takes great pains to project an aura that is both martial and sophisticated, with well-made armor and uniforms. Physically, he is the picture of his Cadeyrn ancestors, with dark hair and brown eyes. Years of war have aged him slightly, but he remains very healthy at just 35 years old.
Biography: Iudicael inherited the family title from his mother 20 years ago, just before he came of age. Still, he was able to finish his education and take up the family mantle a few years before the long war with Rjillund. During the fifteen year war, Iudicael rose as high as one in position could, proving his military competence, even genius, time and again and managed to establish a friendship with the reigning king, Alexius V. He believed that he could have led Alendron to victory, given more resources, and is deeply dissatisfied with Aelin’s “Peace with Honor.”
Personality: Iudicael is unlike what most expect from a general: patient and soft-spoken in public, and entirely cordial even in the most heated Privy Council meetings. This is largely a social projection, though, for the benefit the Alendronian court and his reputation. It is on the battlefield where the real Iudicael can be most clearly seen: willful, bold, ruthless, and even cruel in the pursuit of victory, he commanded some of the bloodiest victories in the entire fifteen years of the war. He is a fierce nationalist and expansionist, and is applying the same ruthless tactics to his political career, this time hoping to be in command from the start.
Skills: Iudicael is well-educated and an exceptionally talented commander, the top graduate (and now primary patron) of Alendron’s military academy. Still, this does not translate to physical talent: with the horse and sword, he is competent at best. His talents are not all martial, though: his rise through the ranks was not entirely based on skill, and with more peacetime experience, Iudicael is becoming an increasingly avid and cunning politician.
