Lady Talisia Salvier, Head of the Foreign Office of Trevast
Name: Talisia Salvier
Title: Head of Foreign Office
Age: 22
Appearance:
Biography:
Talis was born when Prince Phillipe Galathion had a tryst with her mother, the Lady Elaine Salvier. This information was kept hidden from most for many years, including Talis herself. Unfortunately for all involved she had her father's genetics through and through, which quickly led people to spread rumors of her parentage as she grew up. However, her father's death just after her seventh birthday made such rumors impossible to answer.
As Talis grew up the king, Alexius Galathion, seemed to spend an excessive, almost suspicious, amount of money on her upbringing. She received a gift every year on her birthday from the king, and her tutors were the best in the land with funding from the crown itself.
She and those around her grew more suspicious as time went on, though rumors around her once again faded as her mother passed away. She went from the suspected bastard of a king to the orphan daughter of a horrible father and shamed mother. Those around her began to pity her, though this didn't last long: She was quickly offered an apprenticeship within the foreign offices division of the Royal Court, and was taken from the home she had lived in for her entire life.
She excelled at this position, though her close proximity to both king Alexius and Prince Jean did nothing to stem the rumors of her birth. It wasn't until she was 20 and offered a position at the head of the foreign offices that her own suspicions became too much for her to handle. After being given the position Talis asked her uncle directly if she was Alexius' daughter. The truth, unfortunately, was more than she was prepared for: She was the daughter of former king Phillipe, not Alexius.
This revelation shook her as this meant she was the eldest child of the earlier king. Talis was quick to realize that without the stain of her bastardy she would have been made queen when her dad died. She was a hair's breadth away from the throne, and the secret getting out would be catastrophic to the rule of her uncle, and later her cousin. Talis opted not to tell a soul, and instead poured herself into her work. She became a close friend and ally to her cousin Aelin, and they shared their grief when Alexius passed away. He had become as much a father to Talis as he had been to Aelin.
As a result Talis worked with Aelin to do everything she could to finalize the peace talks and ensure that their peace lasted as long as possible. She worked day and night to ease the concerns of other nations, and did everything she could to ensure that no neighbor saw the king's death as an opportunity to pounce on the nation during their grief.
After about two months of Aelin's rule, Talis revealed herself as Phillipe's daughter to warn her of the threat she played to the kingdom. Talis swore to produce no children of any marriage in order to protect her sister, though agreeing to this pained Talis greatly. Luckily for Talis Aelin swore that after she had more children of her own this ban would be lifted, though Talis had no idea when exactly this would be.
Personality and Interests:
Talis is loyal to her cousin and family above all else, including the state. She intends to stand by Aelin as long as she still breathes. Talis has no overarching personal ambitions or goals beyond protecting her family, and all of her actions up to this point serve as proof of this. She is extremely close to Aelin and Jean, and attempts to do everything she can to solidify their legacy as a positive.
Regarding politics Talis is an extreme monarchist and aristocrat. She believes wholely in the innate and holy power of the aristocracy, to the point of actively taking a role against any legislation that might raise their standing. She believes that a common people with too much ambition and education is a threat to the monarchy above all else.
In her free time Talis spends a significant amount of time acting in aristocratic theatre dramas, where she also meets many of her flavors of the week (Only women currently, in order to keep the possibility of having children at 0). Her leftover time is often spent playing with Aelin's many dogs, all of whom Talis adores.
Challenges:
Talis is a snob through and through when it comes lowborn people, and will often attempt to keep any conversations with them as short as possible. The exception is soldiers and guards, who she holds in a slightly higher (But still low) regard.
While Talis may have learned of her father the rest of the court remains unaware, and due to this rumors still spread. Her parentage becomes especially obvious when she spends time in close proximity to Aelin, who she looks almost exactly like. Most now believe she was the bastard of Alexius, though again Talis refuses to comment one way or another.
