Appearance: Aznar is the very image of the old nobility of Routais: impeccably and traditionally dressed (though exile has dulled this sheen somewhat) with a flamboyantly martial air, he is all a great lord and knight could hope to look like. His features favor his Routais mother rather than his Osais father, though his eyes belong to his ancestors.
Personality: Aznar was a man who took his nobility and duty very seriously, but after the Revolution, this was taken to delusional extremes. He now believes he is the last defender of the true people and faith of Routaille, which he holds sacrosanct, and is leading them to establish a new realm.
Biography: Aznar was born and raised as the heir to Grand Duchy of Navir in Old Routaille, the home of the Osais people. The de Seguin supplanted the old dynasty only about a generation back, and hadn’t really ingratiated themselves with their new people before revolutionary fervor began to take hold. As for Aznar, he was given a classic liberal education, but did not really excel in any subject besides oratory, perhaps. He helped his ailing father rule the duchy, keeping it afloat.
When the revolution struck, though, his father quickly died of shock, and Aznar was thrown into leadership. He campaigned against revolutionary strikes, but increasingly denied resources, he was hemmed in to a few coastal fortresses. He was able to hold out longer than many of his contemporaries, and save more than a few knights and nobles that were forced to flee their lands or failed armies. After the Valdez retreated from Routaille, even Aznar realized he would have to abandon the fight: fortunately, most of the old Royal Navy had remained loyal, and he was able to convince them to evacuate with him.
Arriving first in Avindril, the leaders of the exiles: Aznar himself, the fleet Admiral, and the highest ranking noble priest there (Aznar’s own brother), declared themselves the Regency Council of Routaille and the legitimate government-in-exile. They were immediately told to leave Avindril, and, moving south, took on some mercenary work to keep their funds up. Now, they are looking for new land or safe harbor to rebuild, recuperate, and prepare to return to their homeland.
Skills: Aznar’s primary skill is his incredible charisma and oratory skill. He is very convincing, but with regards to actual policy, he tends to let his advisers tell him what to do, while he convinces others to follow and help.
