"I believe that should be all, then, Captains. I will make the necessary arrangements, and if everything arrives on schedule, you should be able to set out in three or four days. Unless you have anything else, you are dismissed to begin making your preparations."
Lohen took out his hankerchief, and wiped his brow. That meeting had been brief, but exhausting.

Aurora regarded the older woman in the room with her and smiled, "Well you heard the boy, we have lots to do. I think we should call ourselves something simple. I imagine both of our compaines names are well known enough to at least gain the attention of those around. I suggest we get out most tight lipped men." She had to admit for being in her thirty's the woman before hardly looked a day over 25. "As for names I was thinking something simple like, Red Company or Freeman Rangers." She shrugged as she said them out, "Just ideas anyways."
She exhaled some, "I am not going to tell you how to handle your boys but ya might want them to loose the fancy armor and get something a bit more Mercenary." She looked around watching as the main who gave their brief wiped sweat from his head, she apologized and headed towards the door calling to him before he strode away, "Hold up!" She yelled out, as she caught up to him and took his hankerchief out of his hand placing herself close to him as she wiped off his forehead. She stared into his eyes as she slowly leaned in and whispered in his hear as she grabbed his hand, "Next time you meet a beautiful woman try not drool." She then placed a small purse of coin into his hand, "Now go to town and find yourself a girl you can actually afford, make sure she is pretty and like I said don't drool and try to remember her name...mmk." She finished with a mischievous grin before turning and pushing him on his way.
Then returning back to room all business, "Next thing though we will need to talk about is when we are underway? who will ultimetly be in charge. It will look super suspicious if we are both giving orders." She paused and thought, "Also we should do some drills together with the troops so they can get used to working with each other. We have to at least look like we have been together for a bit."

"Very well, Captain. Thank you for your time." Arradel gave her fellow Alendronian a quick nod as he made his exit.
She listened as her counterpart spoke, and replied, "Names aside, don't worry about the ability of my men." She offered a small grin, the first she had shown since the meeting began, "Despite our name being the Golden Legion, we can be as discreet as our clients need us to be."
The Elari woman waited as Aurora teased the soldier just before he left, her small grin still in place. "I certainly must admit, he's an interesting character." She intoned as the other woman returned.
When Aurora mentioned command and training, however, the grim quickly faded and was replaced by Arradel's usual business-like expression. "I agree that we should run our men through some drills together, get some coordination between the our companies going. However, I'm disagree on your assessment of our command structure. I know my boys won't listen to a command issued by mercenary from another company - that's just the way they are - and I'm assuming yours won't listen to anything I say to them as well."
She shrugged, "Plenty of companies have multiple leaders, anyhow. Just look at the Golden Legion for one example."

Lohen stumbled out of his tent, more than a little confused about what had just happened, and looked at the pouch of gold. He certainly wasn't going to run off and...pay for intercourse, but this could be saved for a good occasion, once the campaign was over. Once he got back home, the merchant's daughter whose eyes always lit up...surely she'd want to go do something expensive with him?
He smiled at the thought. Cart before the horse, though: he needed to get his job done first, and make those arrangements for supplies.

The last few days had been hectic but rewarding, Aurora was happy that it seemed the two companies troops were working well enough together and most seemed to get a long. She was just happy enough that they were able to get a cartographer and her gear there in time. However this had raised a new question. Aurora wasn't always going to be able to be around and most of the people she was bringing along were wardens on horse. Not the best for a bodyguard.
She looked over to one of her senior leftenants and motioned him over, "Henry, we still have that freelancer we picked up with us?"
The man was clearly older than than Aurora and just as seasoned a warrior and leader. He had been offered higher positions but stayed where he was at loving the fighting more than the administration. "Aye, my lady. She is has been staying around but some say she is getting a bit antsy and I would reckon the same."
She had to admit even though she was taller than the freelancer she had in mind she was sure in raw strength that freelancer probably outdid her. Despite her strength and fit muscular build Aurora did see potential in the freelancer and hope to get her on full time as a warden. Of course she hadn't seen her in true action yet but if her boast held half true she would be good for what Aurora needed.
"Good, have her come here to my tent. I have an assignment for her. Its time to see if she lives up to her boast of being better than ten men."
The Leftenant nodded, "Will do my lady." then turned and left the tent to find the Freelancer.

It was a while later when the asked for mercenary appeared. Kinessa stood around five seven with unkempt hair and broad shoulders. The sword slung across her back was held loose. It was more placed to be out of the way for athletics than for being quickly drawn. Most of the warrior's armor was simple leather with special focus on her boots and bracers.
The mercenary was slightly on edge as she faced down Aurora. Aurora didn't impress Kinessa much in terms of power or tongue. However, the woman's stunning looks and relative youth for her power did put Kinessa on guard.
"What's up?" Kinessa asked. "I wasn't given much information." She figured there was no point in pleasantries. Not in this company at least. They could be useful tools, but not among the more militant sorts.

Aurora was not too surprised by the woman's straight to the point attitude. It was one of those traits that came with job it was more rare that a hire, especially someone subcontracted didn't have that trait.
"Well its up to you ultimately, We are going out on a Recon mission to draw up some maps and get a feel for the area in a hostile lands." She paced a bit and looked the woman over in front of her."I have a special job for you, I don't know how much you know about sea travel but a good map of the coast and sea is some times worth more than a ships worth of cargo." She paused to let that sink in. "On this mission we are bringing one of my cartographer with us to get us a working map of the area. I need to make sure she stays safe and that is what you will be doing, you will be her personal body guard. You don't have to take the job but if you want it, let me know and make sure to have your gear ready to go in the morning."
Aurora relaxes some and softens, "If you have any questions feel free to ask."

"Bodyguard, water, cartographer." Kinessa counted her fingers. "Worse comes to worse, should I protect the maps or the cartographer? I assume maps." It was a slightly heartless question. In a perfect world one would hope the human being would rate above some paper. However, perfect worlds don't exist. This was a mercenary's world. The value of a life was the gold put upon it.

Aurora nodded as the freelancer guessed what was more important, a bit disturbed that freelance had such a grim outlook on what mattered most. While Maps are worth money and in the case part of the mission, the Cartographer is worth so much more, as they could not be easily replaced. "Mostly right, but protect the mapmaker. A map can be replaced, a skilled mapmaker not so much." She motioned generally around her as she asked her last remark, "As long as you get along with the golden legion and we get those maps and mapmaker back You will get a nice bonus."

"Haye." Kinessa replied. She assumed their business done then and turned to leave. However, at the door she hesitated. "A question, is there anything else I should keep an eye out for? Perhaps something else on this trip that would aid for-" Kinessa tilted her head. "-additional compensation?"

Aurora just shrugged, she didn't know of anything they need right off the bat so she answered with a simple reply, "We will cross that bridge when it comes."

Arradel, approached the two mercenaries at the tail end of their conversation. Stopping short, she introduced herself to the newcomer with a curt nod, "Arradel Agathos, of the Golden Legion. I'm assuming you're the one that the Wardens picked up on the road here?"
"We'll be sending out several teams of scouts while the rest of us enter the city. If what I hear of your skill is true, you'll be in charge of one of those groups. Keep an eye out for enemy patrols. Try to remain out of sight, but if necessary, eliminate them. We can't have information of an impending attack be revealed."

The captain got Kinessa's attention quickly. She turned to face the woman. The words were less of what occupied Kinessa's initial thoughts though. She couldn't help but reflect that even as an attractive and tall woman herself, she had mixed feelings of pride and jealousy being around two woman who wielded so much power and were even taller. They even seemed to have an annoying casual beauty to them. Kinessa wasn't unattractive, but she did feel like either of the woman would roll out of bed prettier while Kinessa needed to put forth an effort to look courtly.
These thoughts put an unintentional edge to her reply. "With all due respect." Kinessa started. "I work best alone. I can disguise myself and infiltrate to take out a target beforehand or during the chaos. I doubt other scouts can keep as stealthy or as surefooted."

Aurora smiled at Kinessa though she was a bit annoyed by her gruff nature with the other captain. Instead she decided to wrap an arm around Kinessa and pulled her in close while talking to Arradel, "I was going to have her baby sit my cartographer but if you feel she will be better in a ranging party I might be able to get some folks rounded up that can keep up with her."
Then looking towards Kinessa, "You should loosen up some, your far to young and pretty. If you keep up being this high strung you will have worry lines before your time." she cajoled playfully. "Though if all goes well we won't have to fight anyone."

"That's fair," Arradel intoned as the newcomer addressed her, "However, we need to get detailed maps back to the Alendronians, something that only Aurora's cartographer can do."
She turned to Aurora after the other mercenary captain spoke, "Ultimately, all we need is a skilled escort for the cartographer. If she wants to go it alone, or accompany us into the city, I say we let her do what she wants."
She crossed her arms and asked Kinessa, "Well? What do you want to do?"
