The Confederacy of North Dukes [WIP]

Following the Conference of Aladeen, the Confederation of Northern Dukes was formed as a temporary Government to bring together in a lose confederation of power, those states of the Kingdom of Aladez that opposed the regency of Juan Valdez. Splitting away from the Kingdom, the Confederation consists of the three Northernmost Grand Duchies, and acts as an unofficial buffer state between the Kingdom of Luska and the Heptarchy of Aladez.

Whilst the Confederacy has little actual power over its members, it is recognised as an official political body representing the interests of its members - the Grand Duchies and its representative Dukes. A Diet of Nobles meets in the City of Ard Caedwyn, the centermost Duchys Capitol once per month, wherein they monitor and observe the actions of the elected First Duke who serves to act as a Head of State and International Figurehead for the Confederation.

This First Duke has little actual power, and must have all decisions he makes ratified by the Diet of Nobles - which is made up of all holders of the Office of Grand Duke and of the Office of Duke (estimated to be some fifteen members) - and instead acts as a spokesperson for the Confederation. Other than this, the position of First Duke does little, and must rely on their own Ducal armies and incomes to support them in their role, as the Confederacy does not have any form of centralised method of dealing with this.
