Culture:
The Druuka have rarely been a peaceful people. Ever at odds with the Trevastine Empire, they were nearly wiped out during the reigns of Thredan and Caspian, and were forced to retreat further south to avoid their almost certain fate. If it weren't for the eruption the would destory the kingdom, the Druukan way of life would have been forgotten in history. As fate would have it, they remain, and their complex culture has endured.
The horse lords of Druuka have a culture awash in trade skills, artistry, and martial skill. They are particularly famed (by those who have heard of them) as master carpet-weavers, poets, and musicians, and they place a strong value on power and wealth. Men are taught that only by being confident and leaving your enemies in your wake is the only way to success and good fortune. The role of women, in contrast, is to make the home, work in a trade or craft, and serve to provide the next generation. Druukan culture exonerates the marriage to multiple wives, and the more successful a man is, the more wives he is able to attract.
Apart from the patriarchal gender roles, most people are content with the their traditions, and see the Druukan way of life as something to honor and be a part of. They are very proud of how long their people have stood the test of time, and it is because of this valued independence that a good number of them are not happy about the recent vassalage to Izhen. Under Seryan's leadership, however, his people have gone along so far.
Their food is centered around heavily spiced meats that are smoked or grilled, the use of yogurt and crumbled cheese, rice, coffee, and thin, doughy breads used like utensils. Alcohol is used for celebration and leisurely consumption, and the Druuka are known for a sweetened liquor known as raki, that is flavored with anise.
History:
As stated earlier, the Druuka have always been a people reliant on taking the fortunes of others. To them, the action of raiding or marauding is simply seen as self-reliance and survival. If their enemies were weak, they were preyed upon. If they were strong, they were seen as a worthy enemy to compete with. Very rarely did the Druuka have allies, as they usually assimilated or fought with those who they came in contact with.
When the Trevastine Empire caught wind of them, however, the Druuka were forced to abandon their lands and become a nomadic people. Never staying in a particular region too long, they engaged in hit and run tactics to whittle down empire forces, and survived off of the land and stolen goods as best they could. The horse lords were pushed ever further south, until they met tribes and nations who acted as an anvil to the Trevastine's hammer.
For a short time, the Druuka's situation looked bleak. Then the unthinkable happen, and the mountain underneath the empire's capital exploded, sending the northern kingdoms into disarray. Forces were recalled, and efforts to destroy the Druuka were abandoned. The horse lords licked their wounds as the ash settled around Trevast, and when the last rains of sulfur had touched the earth, the horse lords moved to reclaim their old lands. Though it took the better part of a century, the Druuka were able to reclaim the southern region of their old lands, and establish the seat that is known today as Dhar Druuka.
Since that time, the horse lords of the south have resumed their old ways. Over the years they have been a thorn in their neighbors' sides, and have made peace with few. Only the most wily or heavily armed merchants were able to trade with them for the longest time, and most simply viewed their exotic good as not worth the cost. Recently, however, their alliance with Izhen has forced the Druuka to assume a more diplomatic nature, and markets have opened in Dhar Druuka and in other Sabal-controlled towns and villages.

The warriors of Druuka are very dissimilar to the hosts of Trevast, and most will notice an immediate absence of knights, heavy armor, or crossbows. They are comprised of a mostly mounted force of shock, melee, and archer cavalry supplemented with foot soldiers and supply wagons. Curved, broad swords are their hallmark, and laminated or scale armor adorn the melee cavalry while the rest of the army wears chain or ring mail. The force is comprised as follows:
17,500 Melee Cavalry (armored, curved sword and shield)
10,000 Shock Cavalry (lightly armored, spear, sword, and shield)
7,500 Archer Cavalry (lightly armored, composite bows, sword)
2,500 Warriors (spear, sword and shield)
