(This series takes place during the times when Lucius is in Agathos and there are no extenuating circumstances occurring in the world)
The Great Library of Agathos. Known across all of Trevast for holding the most complete record of 2nd Age native history. It was one of the only aspects of Agathos that got the respect it deserved.
It was here that Lucius Gideon Agathos made his study. A personal and private space for the reigning lord of Agathos and his immediate family, the office had been used by Lucius' ancestors since the time it was built.
It was here that Lucius felt that he could truly be himself without having to worry about appearances.
He sighed, studying the manuscript in front of him. It detailed the adventures of his distant ancestor, Gaeus Regar Agathos, who was known to be one of the greatest Lords of Agathos to have ever lived. It was only under his rule in which Agathos started to fulfill its latent potential, but that was a story for another time.
Lucius turned from his reading to see his brother, Quintus, standing behind him.
"Quintus, to what do I owe the occasion?"
Lucius wasn't exactly on the best terms with his younger brother, the last time he had seen him was a month after his marriage. At that time, Lucius had lashed out at his sibling, calling him irresponsible and untraditional in his views on the world. They hadn't talked since, his brother retreating to his home on the countryside with his wife.
Lucius spoke once more before his brother could,
"Listen, I'm sorry about what I said. I..."
"Don't worry about it, Lucius, you were always the one who had everything heaped onto him. Its a wonder you held up for that long. We should have helped you out."
He was right, their parents had died near the same time, leaving Lucius to take Lordship without any elders to give him guidance. The stress of lordship had been heaped upon him, and in his time of need, his brothers simply left him to do all the work.
"That doesn't excuse my actions. I'm sorry." After a short pause, he continued, "How's the wife?"
"She's doing good. We're expecting."
"Congratulations."
"Thank you."
The conversation had been cautious, unemotional. Lucius desperately wanted to change that. He smiled, warmth reaching his face for the first time in a long time,
"I do mean it. Congratulations, brother." He stood from his seat and embraced his brother. "I'm happy for you." His brother, stiffening at first, eventually returned the embrace,
"Thanks."
